Mesh routers like the Eero solve the age-old problem of how to get a solid Wi-Fi signal into every nook and crevice of a large home without having to establish more than one SSID and change networks when roaming around your own home. The other day I told you about a $199 deal for Eero at Amazon (which is still available) but now, Best Buy has upped the ante by giving you a three-piece Eero Dual-Band Mesh router system, along with an Amazon Echo Show 5 for the same $200. So that's $50 off the Eero, plus a $90 Echo smart display for free.

Earlier this week, the deal was slightly better: Best Buy was bundling both the Echo Show 5 and a third-gen Echo Dot. That Dot is no longer in the offer, but it's still a great deal.

I need to dive a little deeper here. In the past, Amazon has run this three-piece Eero deal and thrown in a free Echo Dot, and I think it's doing it again right now, sort of. When some readers click on the Amazon deal, they see a free Echo Dot bundled with the Eero on the product page; others do not. My theory: If your Amazon account doesn't already own an Amazon Echo product, Amazon is throwing in a Dot for free. But if you own a Dot, you don't get the offer. Not sure if that's exactly what's going on here, but it definitely seems to fit the data.

But forget all that nonsense. Best Buy is unambiguously bundling an Echo Show 5 for free. Want to make sure you're really getting the same deal we're seeing here at Cheapskate? On the Best Buy product page, expand the "Overview" halfway down the page and make sure it includes the Echo Show. Or add it to your cart and make sure all both items show up on the checkout page.

Whew, OK, now that I've gotten all that out of the way, let me point out that this Eero three-pack is $150 less than a similar three-piece Nest Wifi mesh router, and covers as much as 5,000 square feet, which should be enough for virtually any home. Additional satellite units are available -- the whole system is modular -- for $99 each. The lowest price I've ever seen for the Eero kit is about $160 from back during the holidays, but this dual bundle trumps that sale price.

CNET's Ry Crist reviewed the new Eero system, and it performed very well. In Ry's words, "Eero is a very safe pick, and maybe even a terrific one, since you're getting three devices for less than Nest charges for two." Make that four devices.
